About the Exhibition

This exhibition of works by Yoshiro Takada, a 3D model artist of Ōgaki, Gifu prefecture, includes an installation of tree branches linked in a ring in the pool outside the museum. In the galleries are a large work featuring 108 sunbaked dishes arranged on the floor covered with a circle of wood chips, as well as an objets made of pieces of pottery fastened together. The exhibit represents a new attempt to bring together works that fit the display spaces. Even water, which does not have fixed shape, is incorporated.
Takada was born in the city of Gifu in 1957. From 1984 to 1986, soon after completing graduate school specializing in sculpture at Tama Art University, he contributed to art education in Honduras as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers. After returning to Japan, he began producing works mainly using clay and wood. Starting in the mid-1990s, he created art works in humorous and appealing forms made up of pieces of pottery linked together. In recent years he has developed installation works bringing out the qualities of the space provided.
