About the Exhibition

　Toko Shinoda, artist of abstract ink painting, uses sumi to give shape to the invisible—the shifting seasons, the subtle things that sway the mind, the sense of fulfillment. Such shapes appear in light rhythms generated by slender lines or points of sumi, or between spaces created by the lingering effect of the shades of the ink.
　May is the month of dazzlingly fresh new greenery, gentle breezes and clear skies. This exhibition displays works by Toko Shinoda that express the energetic and lively lines of bright early-summer light. Soft and steady breezes flow along Toko’s brush, each line delineating shapes from her mind.
